A Truly Very Special Day”: South Indian Wedding in New Jersey
Exquisite, heartwarming, and festive—these words perfectly capture Divya and Siddharth's South Indian wedding.
From the moment we met the couple to interact with their families, we knew that this wasn't just a fun-filled wedding. But it was the true union of two families who would stand by each other through the test of time.
This constant reminder to love drives us to keep shooting wedding films.
South Indian Wedding Ceremonies
Blending Telugu (bride) and Gujarati (groom) traditions were featured in the ceremony. One ceremony is the Jai Mala or Varmala, where the couple exchanges garlands.
Their male relatives and friends playfully lifted them. Each side engaged in friendly competition, challenging the couple as they exchanged garlands.
Inside the wedding hall, we witnessed the tying of a sacred thread while holding a coconut. It's a Hinduism tradition.
The coconut is a sacred fruit that symbolizes purity, fertility, and prosperity, offered to the deities as a gesture of reverence.
Another important tradition is the mangalsutra ritual, where Siddarth lovingly tied a sacred thread with a gold beaded pendant around Divya's neck.
Then they take seven steps around the sacred fire to perform the saptapadi, symbolizing their eternal commitment.
Traditional South Indian Wedding Dress
Before we head to the venues, we want to share about Indian wedding dresses. You might have noticed those dresses on the previous blogs we posted.
Wearing the traditional South Indian wedding dress is a way to honor and respect the customs and rituals of Hinduism. It symbolizes femininity, grace, and cultural identity.
Changing sarees is common at weddings because it represents a transition or moving from one ritual or ceremony to another.
Wedding Venue: Sri Venkateswara Temple (Balaji Mandir) and Community Center
The temple offers a breathtaking view through its Indian-inspired architecture. Because South Indian Wedding is steeped in Hinduism, this temple is the perfect spiritual venue for weddings. Its serene surroundings added to the venue's elegance.
Towering deities, including the majestic statue of the main deity, Venkateshwara/Balaji, build an ambiance of divineness.
Sri Venkateswara is a compassionate deity bestowing blessings upon devotees, including couples.
The temple complex also featured other revered deities such as Ganesha, Shiva, Mahalakshmi, Iyyapan, Ram pariwar, Anjaneya, Satyanarayana, Muruga, Krishna, and Navagraha.
In addition to religion, the venue also promoted Indian culture and traditions, offering spacious halls and outdoor areas. The spacious parking lot served as an ideal space for the Jai Mala or Varmala ceremony, adding a touch of grandeur to the celebration.
Reception Venue: Hamilton Farm Golf Club

Located at Gladstone. NJ, Hamilton Farm Golf Club is a 13-minute drive from Sri Venkateswara Temple (Balaji Mandir) and Community Center.
It is a suitable venue for picture-taking because of its greenery backdrop. And how can we forget the dance floor?
It was a blast to see everyone having a great time and dancing their hearts out in the temple's parking lot.
And as they continued the party at the private Hamilton Farm, they grooved to the beat, letting loose and enjoying themselves to the fullest.
We're greeted with authentic smiles that go beyond just love.
Heartwarming Messages at South Indian Wedding
The couple's parents and loved ones expressed their deep affection for Divya and Siddharth. It's indeed a heartwarming atmosphere. It was obvious they considered themselves a family even before the wedding.
The messages showed love for one another, solidifying their bond and unity as a family.
We're touched by Siddharth's father who showered Divya with compliments that any daughter-in-law would be delighted to hear.
Siddharth himself described the wedding as “a truly very special day,” and we couldn’t agree more. Here’s the full wedding film.
